Thailand Islands by Vibe:
Which Island Fits Your Trip?
Most people don’t mess up Thailand because they picked a “bad island.”
They mess up Thailand because they picked an island that had zero relation to the trip they actually wanted.
And then they spend the next 5 days wondering why it feels off.
You’re not in paradise. You’re in Phuket traffic at 4pm thinking, “why did this look so different on Instagram?”
That’s the problem.
The actual issue nobody tells you
Thailand islands are not interchangeable.
They’re not:
“pick any beach, it’ll be fine”
“just island hop and see”
“they’re all basically the same vibe”
No. They’re completely different worlds with different energy, different pace, and different types of travellers pretending they’re having the same experience.
And this is where most people get it wrong.
The pattern I keep seeing (and yes, it’s predictable)
Someone says:
“We want a chill island with nice beaches.” Then they book Phuket.
Or:
“We want something social and fun.”
Then they end up somewhere so quiet they start naming geckos for entertainment.
Or my personal favorite:
“We’ll just wing it when we get there.”
Cool. Let me know how that ferry schedule works out for you in peak season.
So I made something to fix that
Instead of writing another “Top 10 Thailand Islands” list like every other travel blog that clearly hasn’t been on a ferry since 2017…
I built a simple Thailand Islands by Vibe map. It basically does the thinking for you.
Not in a “you’re incapable” way. More in a “you probably don’t want to spend your holiday figuring out logistics while sweating in a taxi queue” way.
You’re welcome.
How to actually use it(don’t overthink this)
You don’t need to explore every island. You don’t need to compare 12 tabs like you’re planning a corporate merger.
Just ask yourself:
Do I want quiet or chaos?
Do I want convenience or adventure?
Do I want people or peace?
Then click accordingly. That’s it.
The mistake people KEEP making
They try to “fit everything in.”
So they end up doing:
5 islands in 10 days
half their trip on transport days
and the other half recovering from transport days
And then they say: “Thailand was amazing but exhausting.”
Yeah. That’ll happen when your itinerary looks like a Connect-the-Dots puzzle.
Here’s what actually works better (even if it’s less exciting)
Pick fewer places. Stay longer in each one.
Stop moving every time TikTok shows you a new beach.
Thailand isn’t going anywhere. You don’t need to "win it".
About the map
This isn’t a “here are pretty places” situation.
It’s more like: “here’s what each island actually feels like so you don’t accidentally book a party island when you wanted peace and silence”
Which happens more often than people admit.
If you want the full version of planning Thailand properly
The map helps you avoid obvious mistakes.
But it doesn’t:
tell you how long to stay places
explain ferry routes properly
help you build an actual itinerary
or stop you from overpaying for half the transfers you’ll probably book wrong the first time
That’s where my full Thailand planning guide comes in.
It’s basically: how to actually do Thailand without learning everything the expensive way, But start with the map first.
Otherwise you’ll probably still pick Koh Phi Phi thinking it’s “relaxed vibes.”
(It’s not.)
